Lindsay offers dressage coaching according to classical principles and is passionate about helping partnerships to achieve their full potential- in the school at home, and in the competition arena. Above all, she helps her clients (human and equine!) to enjoy riding and training- whatever goals you are working towards, dressage should be fun for you and your horse!
Lessons are charged at £40 and usually last around 45 mins but can be up to an hour if it is necessary to work on a particular focus. Discounts are available for courses/block bookings, payable in advance (5% discount for 5 lessons, or 10% for 10 lessons). Semi private tuition is also available at £60 per hour for two horses and riders. Lindsay is sometimes able to travel out to teach depending on distance and number of lessons- regrettably she cannot travel for single lessons due to time constraints.
Lindsay does not use or encourage the use of force or 'gadgets'; her methodical and progressive approach will ensure you can achieve the feeling of dancing with your horse- in harmony. She teaches using successful strategies proven by scientific research into how horses learn and principles found in natural horsemanship. She will ensure that you understand exactly why and how to teach your horse the responses required to carry out each exercise or part of an exercise correctly, and will show you how to develop your timing and feel. This means that, if training is approached with a well organised and logical plan of progression, every horse can reach a high level of schooling.
A recent comment from a client on her second lesson- 'It felt so different- he's normally so lazy, but after the in hand work we did last session he must have found his 'go' button- I didn't have to push and shove at all- it was like riding the crest of a wave!'

FEEDBACK FROM ONE OF OUR CLIENTS
I would just like to say a massive thank you for what you have done for me and my horse since I met you at Beaver Hall Dressage camp. I had all but given up hope of ever being able to get my horse to go into a soft correct outline whilst being active behind and achieve my aim of one day competing at Elementary level dressage.
After being told by several trainers that she was too big and strong for me, I clung onto the hope that one day somebody would hand me the key that would unlock the door to this beautiful, talented horse's potential. After only three lessons we have made some giant strides, and after every lesson I feel both me and Ronnie have made progress and now look forward to what the future may hold, which I am sure one day will take us beyond elementary level.
What we have achieved so far is beyond what I thought possible in this short time, but the best bit of all is that it has all been done with kindness, patience, understanding of me and my horse and without any force or gadgets.
Thank you once again, I couldn't have done it without you.
Mel Smith
