STUDIO WORK

Your movement patterns shape your posture and vice versa, both on and off your horse. His movement patterns and posture influence yours too. Unwinding tension in the body and mind will open the door to core sense and fabulous, fluid, fully functional movement- your performance potential is amazing!

The Dressage Studio does not offer large Pilates studio apparatus as Lindsay prefers to work with exercise plans which make use of small equipment, that you can continue to practise with at home.  It is fully equipped with a variety of stability, resistance and weighted balls, balance boards, bands, isotoners, spiky balls, foam rollers and lots of other toys to make your sessions effective, varied and fun!

Initial studio consultations

Initial consultations involve postural analysis and spinal alignment on the wooden saddle horse and an introductory programme of Equipilates™ exercises/techniques to improve your alignment, flexibility, core strength and balance.  You are encouraged to bring your own saddle for this so that alignment corrections can be made on a familiar base.
During the session you will learn how to find your 'neutral' spine, the ideal position you will be working towards maintaining when you ride, and we will ensure you understand how to achieve this when you are working on your own.  Lindsay will show you how and when to activate the correct core muscles appropriate for riding also whilst on the saddle horse, plus breathing techniques for tension release.
You will receive relevant worksheets on the exercises covered to help you practise effectively at home.   The session lasts around an hour and a half and costs £65 with Lindsay, or £45 with Emma.  Semi private consultations are available if you would like to come with a friend, at a reduced rate of £60 per person (with Lindsay) or £40 per person (Emma).

Further Equipilates™ studio tuition

.

After an initial consultation, you can continue with one-to-one studio sessions, or join an Equipilates™ evening course.

Private Equipilates studio tuition involves a progressive programme of strength, balance and flexibility exercises to improve your core stability, body awareness and spinal alignment.  Programmes can be tailored to help you achieve your personal goals, whether that means conditioning your body to ride more effectively in the competition arena, or perhaps returning to riding fitness after having a baby or after an injury.  Maybe you simply want to be in the best possible shape to enjoy riding your horse and help him move freely.

One to one tuition is much more effective than group classes, as each element of the session is prescriptive to your body and needs. Some clients choose to have private tuition weekly while others visit at longer intervals up to monthly.

Studio tuition is charged at £45 per hour (Lindsay) and £30 per hour (Emma).   Courses are available in blocks of of 5 (5% prepaid discount)  or 10 (10% prepaid discount).  An initial assessment consultation is necessary before further studio work is undertaken.   Semiprivate tuition is available at £55 with Lindsay or £40 with Emma.  Semiprivate sessions usually last just over an hour.
