As the founder of Equipilates™, I spend a lot of time ensuring I stay up to date with the latest industry developments and research.  With this in mind, I have continued to invest in the facilities here at Equipilates™ HQ in Ripley, Derbyshire. As the business grows, I want to be sure that we are in a position to offer our clients and teaching team access to high quality apparatus as well as professional training.

Martha the mechanical horse

We have the fabulous Martha (our black wonder horse!) here at Equipilates™ HQ, with mirrors and video feedback, pressure mapping and rein sensor gauges;  the ideal solution to any worries of wonkiness!

Do you have subtle (or not so subtle!) patterns of asymmetry, areas of tension which are hard to spot, or stability issues in your position which hold you back from gaining that extra little bit of suspension in your extended trot, expression in your flying changes, or simply getting a tidy trot to halt transition?

Whether you would like help to improve your riding performance for competition, you are returning to riding fitness after injury, pregnancy or just a long break, or you would like to generally be a better balanced partner for your horse, Equipilates™ tuition on Martha is the ideal solution.

Martha is perfectly balanced and symmetrical, so we can work on you! These are
mechanical horse sessions with a difference; under our expert eyes, you will
find a deeper sense of alignment , breathing and centring whilst on the moving
horse.

It really is all about the guidance you are given when using a tool such as a mechanical horse, and there is a big difference between just ‘having a go’ and what we offer here.  In our sessions you will really work on the nitty gritty of joint mobility, muscle release and creating helpful neural pathways of a core with just the right amount of stability required.

We can help with timing and co-ordination; where,
when and how to engage the right bits of your body at the right time.  Crucially, we’ll also help you to release those bits too!

With a fully equipped Pilates studio sharing Martha’s stable, this is a unique facility in the UK for rider performance and rehabilitation.
Fully equipped Pilates studio
Our studio also boasts the latest Pilates equipment from Balanced Body in the USA including Reformer with half Cadillac tower, Wunda Chair and Ladder Barrel, with a host of accessories and small equipment to facilitate rehabilitation and training for sports performance of the highest standard.

Matwork Studio

Our matwork studio is a warm and inviting space where you can energise and recharge, or relax and unwind with a variety of classes available.  This studio doubles as our teacher training facility; equipped with full size flexible skeleton in addition to various other bony body parts!  We also host various talks and workshops with visiting teachers and presenters here.

Cardio and resistance room
This is more Lindsay's 'playroom' than anything else, although we do have clients who work on these aspects within their training as well as their Equipilates™ work.  Some of the sports therapy remedial exercise work Lindsay takes place in here, according to the rider's requirements.

Mirrored Arena.

Picture
Our  42 x 20 m all weather arena has mirrors on the short side so you can gain crucial visual feedback from lessons on your horse- from this autumn we are also offering a filming facility via our remote SoloShot camera. You wear the sensor around your arm, and the camera follows you throughout your lesson, capturing all the important bits that you don't always hear or remember once you get home.  Footage will be sent to you so you can continue to learn at home, with no more shaky videoing!
