Equipilates Biomechanics Trainer™ 07957 344688 Kate is a Chartered Human and Veterinary Physiotherapist who graduated from St George's University of London with a BSC (Hons) Physiotherapy in 2008. She started her career as a Junior Physiotherapist in the NHS working in different areas of the NHS in Kent including orthopaedic, medical, neurology, respiratory and musculoskeletal sports injuries. In 2011 she specialised in musculoskeletal sports injuries as a Senior within the NHS and private sector. To combine her passion for horses with her Physiotherapy work in 2013 Kate completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy at the University of the West of England/Hartpury College. Since graduating Kate now treats horses and riders on a full time basis in Kent and Surrey. Through treating patients clinically and seeing the benefits of using Pilates methods to rehabilitate patients Kate was inspired to complete her Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) to become an advanced Pilates instructor. She has done further training in Pilates for horse riders. Kate has been with horses all her life and started riding at the age of 3 years old. Even from a young age Kate has been focussed on training and improving her riding and her horse’s way of going. Kate produced her own pony at the age of 10 years old from a cheeky Irish pony who couldn’t canter to a successful pony club pony. In her teens Kate focussed on Show Jumping and successfully competed up to Newcomers/Foxhunter level with her warmblood/throughbred mare Coco. In 2007 Kate bred a foal from Coco and now competes the grown up foal Solomon in British Dressage and Showjumping. Through producing and training a big exuberant warmblood from scratch, Kate entered the world of Dressage. Kate was opened up to the importance of equine and rider Biomechanics through training with Russell Guire/ Centaur Biomechanics and continues to work with Russell on a monthly basis 5 years later. Following the Pilates for horse riders course and seeing Lindsay at Russell’s rider conference Kate was inspired to further deepen her knowledge of how to address rider asymmetry and further assist the rider’s she was working with so undertook the EquiPilates Biomechanics Trainer course completing it in 2016. Kate is passionate about helping all levels of horse and rider from hacking to the competitive rider and understands the mental and physical skills required from both horse and rider. Due to her combined work as a human and veterinary physiotherapist and Equipilates biomechanics trainer means she is able to help both the horse and rider combination using advanced assessment, treatment and Pilates skills. |
