Hello from me!

As the newest member of the Equipilates™ HQ team I wanted to introduce myself and say a quick hello!

With over 10 years experience coaching at a variety of levels, across all equestrian disciplines I compete at BE and BD and have always been passionate about riding and improving my own equestrian performance and the performance of those I coach.

Thinking of getting back into riding? Know someone who is?

We are bursting with excitement about our new Equipilates™/Hoof course.

The course takes place at Radway Riding School just outside Gaydon, in Warwickshire and consists of hour classes each week for six weeks.  With content and exercises specifically designed to improve symmetry, alignment, balance and core stability, it's perfectly designed to prepare the body for a riding lesson on week 6.

Students will be given exercises to practice at home each week and a welcome pack to help get the most out of the sessions and ultimately out of getting back in the saddle. The final session consists of a short Equipilates™ workout and a semi-private lesson at Radway Riding School.

Classes run for 6 weeks as follows:

From 26th October 16 to 30th November 16
Wednesday 11.15am-12.15am
at Radway Village Hall
Farnborough Road
United Kingdom

I’m Hilary Boss, a 25 year old qualified BSc Equine Science, BHSAI and Event rider based in Nottingham, I have ridden all of my life and had the opportunity to ride and train with some of the most respected horsemen and women in the world thus acquiring many training techniques however I was starting to find with my event horses that I was reaching a ‘block’ in their training and with more and more emphasis being placed upon the dressage I thought I must try and get this ‘block’ sorted.

Veronika’s Shoulder Bridge with Variations

For me EquipilatesTM has definitely been an eye opener and a light bulb moment on many occasions. It has taught me a great deal about my own body, how and why it does things the way it does – or doesn’t! It has sometimes made me question and re-think the way I ride and I have been able to pass this onto my clients. It’s great to be able to help them understand how they bodies work, how to influence their horses by making the smallest of changes in their posture, or even just teach them how to breathe!

Gillian does the dynamic plank

3/1/2016

As riders we need to maintain synchrony with the movement of our horse; this gives the appearance of stillness. However rather like the proverbial duck’s feet under water, our body needs to be working to absorb the horse’s movement through our seat, hips and pelvis as well as upwards through the spine and downwards through the legs.

Kate’s Equipilates™ ‘Monkey Squat for Riders’ Exercise

This exercise helps riders ‘find’ and activate their gluteal muscles. Our gluteals are instrumental in the front-to-back balance of our hips (gluteus maximus) and our right-to-left symmetry (gluteus medius) in the saddle.

Gina exercises your topline!

12/1/2015

This exercise helps riders with rounded shoulders or ‘chicken wing’ elbows – developing awareness of shoulder blade placement and strengthening the muscles that maintain a good ‘Topline’ across the rider’s shoulders.

It combines two classical Pilates exercises; Dumb Waiter and Cleopatra, whilst challenging our balance.
